Teaching Literacy in Grade 3 Workshop

RENTAL PROVIDES 1 YEAR OF ACCESS! Teaching Literacy in Grade 3 was created by Janet Langley and Patti Connolly. It includes a 2 hour segment on ‘Singing Games’ with singing guru, Anna Rainville. The workshop is based on Janet and Patti’s combined 65+ years of Waldorf teaching experience, including over 40 years mentoring teachers in the area of early literacy instruction. A cursory glance at the topics below reveals the wide breadth of our workshop. These sessions include instruction on the science behind reading; a fun-filled, yet effective approach to teaching phonics rules; the art of composing well-structured sentences- transitioning into how to craft informative paragraphs; designing a dynamic, effective reading program (including how to read non-fiction); creative ways to teach grammar and language mechanics, as well as a number of other skills you will need to bring a comprehensive, creative, and effective language arts curriculum to your third-grade class. Each aspect of this course is presented through the lens of meeting the needs of the developing child, as described by Rudolf Steiner, founder of Waldorf Education.
